Since 1800, we have been cultivating excellence.

The Casa Vinicola Quignones comes to life thanks to the passionate and kind work of Alfredo Quignones, who carries forward a project started by his great-great-grandfather in the 19th century, aiming today at the production of natural wines that offer a different expression of Sicily, through the use of vines rare and particular methods of winemaking and refinement.

We are proudly small, we produce wine and extra virgin olive oil, linked to traditional practices such as rigorous hand-harvesting and patient refinement of the wines.

Our wines are the result of a love story: the one between the hills where our vineyards ripen and the sea. Opposite each other for centuries.

The hill, cloaked in the sun and superb nature, sighs while gazing at the immense sea, he looks at it from afar, blowing a breeze over it, sometimes sweet, sometimes powerful, full of its scent.

Ancient landscapes that extend over over 100 hectares in the most authentic and least known Sicily, lands full of millennia of history , and which have belonged to the Quignones family for over 2 centuries.

Making a good wine takes time. We bottle it professionally, so that you can enjoy it, adding ours to your time: perhaps this is the magic that a bottle of wine is capable of creating.

There are no secrets, it's just love, nature, time and effort.

Over two centuries of history and good family traditions.

It was Baron Raffaele Quignones, great-great-grandfather of the current owner, who purchased the vast property called Tenuta d'Apaforte.

In this fascinating setting, characterized by centuries-old olive trees, large almond groves and particularly calcareous soil, there was a vineyard. Those grapes were produced there, an intense purple, with a typically loose bunch, which has always been called Calabrese.

But as time passed, when the almond groves gave way to vineyards, it was discovered that the precious Nero d'Avola was inhabiting those lands.

Today, Alfredo Quignones follows in the footsteps of his father, who at the beginning of the 70s of the last century decided to convert part of the company specializing it in the cultivation of vines, carrying on a tradition that has now become centuries-old.

And this is how the ancient pergola systems were converted into long rows of espaliers hosting the Nero d'Avola and Inzolia vines, which were joined by cultivars such as Chardonnay, Fiano, Syrah and Petit Verdot, thus promoting the excellences symbol of the Mediterranean territory.

All the nuances of uncontaminated nature, in a glass of wine.

The one hundred hectares of our lands, predominantly calcareous in nature, extend in the south of Sicily, more precisely in Licata , in the province of Agrigento.

Our vineyards are located on the slopes of the Sant'Oliva hill and expand up to its top, overlooking the vast Licata plain, which continues up to the sandy Mediterranean coasts.

Exposed to the South-West, the plants enjoy the warmth of the sun for most of the day.

Furthermore, thanks to their proximity to the sea, they are constantly refreshed by the light sea breezes typical of the Mediterranean, giving the grapes truly special characteristics.
