The origin of the Anice Unico in Palermo
The origin of Tutone company dates back to 1813, when a small grocery store was opened in
Palermo, which immediately became famous for the production of Anice Unico (zammù). It is a
highly sought-after product, especially in summer, for its refreshing and digestive properties.
The recipe is secret and passed down from generation to generation. Today it is still used to prepare
the precious Sicilian distillate. The company’s goal is to trade both Anice Unico and other liqueurs,
whose ancient taste has almost disappeared. A work that involves a series of tests and experiments,
before finally being able to start the production of distillates and infusions, prepared keeping
unchanged the methods and the artisanal nature of the recipes.
