Organic olives of age-old olive groves
Terraliva mainly produces oil and is based in Buccheri, a small village in the province of
Syracuse. The farm is an ancient dwelling of the ‘700, surrounded by a suggestive tranquility, in the
heart of the Iblei Mountains, a few kilometers from the most beautiful cities of art and historicalarchitectural
interest of eastern Sicily. Tourists from all over the world come to the estate to make
guided tours, themed courses, or simply for an olive oil tasting, a set of suggestive sensations and
scents of Sicily’s history.
From secular olive groves and with great passion, the production of oils certified by Organic
Agriculture takes place: dop, kosher and Halal. In particular, the oil DOP of Monti Iblei from
Biological Agriculture has been several times winner of the major national and international
competitions, such as the Vinitaly Sol, the Cibus, the Orciolo d’Oro, the Merum and many others.
The processing of extra virgin olive oil is obtained by cold pressing after the manual harvesting of
the olives. Authenticity, purity, freshness of the product and respect for plants are the watchwords of
the company, the goal to be achieved. This is why no machinery is used that would cause trauma to
the fruit, compromising the following vintage. At a later stage, the olives are brought to the mill to
be ground with the Protoreactor, which guarantees a higher load of polyphenols and thus produces
an excellent oil. The last one will be filtered, placed under nitrogen in the silos at a controlled
temperature and, later, will be traced through the lot.
The company Terraliva also offers magnificent vegetables, jams, preserves and a very good wine, to
delight guests and the most demanding palates.
